About - Rick Shoemaker

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Pastor Rick Shoemaker. He passed away shortly after 4 am Sunday morning October 27th, 2013, having experienced complications from his battle with cancer.

One of Rick's last requests was to have his book "Dissecting the Serpent: Exposing 21 of the Devil’s Most Destructive  Devices" published in audiobook format and the proceeds from the sales donated to Cancer Research and Faith and Friends Radio.

The audiobook project has been funded entirely by love offerings from members of First Baptist Church of New Carlisle, Ohio where Rick served as Pastor for 34 years. This site is dedicated to fulfilling Rick's request and with the goal of continuing to share the same Word of God that Rick dedicated his life to sharing with everyone to met.

If you do not know Jesus Christ as your personal savior, it is our wish through Rick's writing and teaching of the Word of God, that you will come to a saving knowledge in Jesus Christ. Ready to take the next step?

Pastor Rick Shoemaker, a native of Kettering, Ohio, was saved in 1971. He began preaching later that year while a senior at Fairmont East High School. He graduated from Cumberland College and continued his theological training at Southern Seminary in Louisville, Ky. After serving churches in Northern Ky. and in Central Indiana, Rick was called as the pastor of the First Baptist Church of  New Carlisle, Ohio in December of 1979 where he continues to minister.

He and his wife, Elizabeth, have been married since 1974. Their daughters, Jennifer and Sarah, are elementary school teachers in Glasgow and Louisville, Kentucky respectively. Jennifer’s husband, Brian Clifford, is an elementary school principal. Sarah’s husband, Dale Gillespie is an IT Specialist. All are active in their local churches. Rick and Elizabeth have three grandchildren, Nathaniel, age 12, Carli, age 10 and McKenna, age 5.

In addition to his pastoral duties, Rick writes a weekly column, “From the Pulpit” for the New Carlisle News, the Tipp City Gazette and the Enon Eagle.  He has written numerous magazine articles, dramatic sketches, and other items primarily for Lifeway publications. His first book,“Dissecting the Serpent: Exposing 21 of the Devil’s Most Destructive  Devices,” will be released in November of 2012.

Rick serves with Church Transformation Ministries; a group of Certified Christian Conciliators, that teaches biblical peacemaking workshops and does mediation and church conflict intervention work. In his spare time, Rick enjoys playing golf and rooting for the Cleveland Indians, Browns, and Cavaliers and the Ohio State Buckeyes. Rick and Elizabeth love spending time spoiling their grandchildren.
